IKEBANA VESSEL WORKSHOP 2,5 H
IKEBANA VESSEL WORKSHOP
Ikebana, also known as kadō (“the way of flowers”), is the Japanese art of flower arranging that emphasizes harmony, balance, and the spiritual connection between nature and humanity. Originating from early Buddhist and Shinto practices, it has evolved over centuries into many schools and styles—ranging from highly formal rikka to freer, modern expressions. Central to ikebana is not only the flowers themselves, but also the vessel, which frames and shapes the arrangement.
In this workshop, we will explore the relationship between clay and flowers by hand-building ceramic vessels designed specifically for ikebana. You will learn fundamental ceramic techniques such as pinching, coiling, and slab-building, while shaping a form that is both functional and deeply personal. Working together in a calm and welcoming environment, the process offers a meaningful opportunity to slow down, connect with others, and engage in creative ritual.
At the end of the session, all vessels will be carefully bisque-fired and glazed to ensure durability and a refined finish. Finished pieces will be available for pickup approximately four weeks later.
